Arms Act Consultation
Submission Guide
COLFO has produced this document to assist you and your organisation in submitting on the Arms Act Rewrite. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape and fix, our firearms legislation. Particularly in the last five years, the Arms Act has become a complex, unworkable political statement.

If you are angry about how previous governments and police treated Licensed firearm owners, then you must make a submission. Together we will make a difference.
Why Submit?
Because otherwise, your rights will be decided by those who know nothing about firearms.
Anti-Firearm Lobby Groups are proposing:
Doubling the cost of your firearms license - by reducing it to 5 years instead of 10 years.

Raising the Minimum Age – Banning anyone under 10 from using firearms, even under supervision, and increasing the minimum age for a firearms license to 18.
Calling for the destruction of firearms - Calling for the permanent deactivation of collectors firearms.
Calling for NZ to follow the laws set by Australia - this includes:
-
Banning pump action, lever-action, straight-pull bolt action and calibers larger than .308
-
Limiting the number of firearms you are allowed to own.
-
Requiring the written permission and presence of parents when kids are engaged in shooting sports.

If you have ever complained about unjust laws, this is your chance to change things and get practical and effective firearms law to make NZ safer.
